Become a Member of Impact San Antonio (ISA) by contributing $1,000. ISA holds no monthly meetings, but contributors are welcome to participate by serving on committees. Members who donate $1,000 by September 30 have voting rights (in person or absentee) at the annual Grant Award Night ceremony.

If you choose, as a Member, you can participate in the Grant Review process by serving on one of five grant committees (two to three meetings). Each committee reviews grant applications and conducts site visits to learn more about the agencies and how they will use the grant from ISA if they win.

At the Grant Award Night on October 24, 2012, Impact San Antonio Members will hear presentations by the Grant finalists. Members in good standing will vote by individual ballot. The winning grant recipient(s) will be selected by majority vote. At least one $100,000 project grant is bestowed that night immediately following the vote.

The annual goal is to have enough Members to grant a minimum of $100,000. Our goal for 2012 is to reach $200,000 so we can award two grants of $100,000 each.

Join Impact San Antonio – Three Levels of Support

Impact Member with Voting Rights. You may become a full voting Member of Impact San Antonio by contributing $1,000 prior to September 30 and completing and submitting the Membership Form. Making a partial payment prior to May 31 qualifies you to serve on a Grant Review Committee.
Impact Plus Member with Voting Rights. Impact Plus Members contribute $1,100 or more to become a full voting Member. The plus amount of $100 or more supports ISA’s administrative costs. In-kind contributions valued at $100 or more and supported by receipts qualify for the plus part of the contribution.
Friend of Impact. Women, men, and businesses may become a Friend of Impact by contributing any amount less than $1,000 to help cover administrative expenses. Friends must also complete and submit the Membership Form. Note: Contributors at this level may not serve on Grant Review Committees nor can they vote on Grant Night. They may participate on any other committees and attend Impact events. In-kind contributions are also welcome at this level of support.

Step One: Contribute

You may contribute either by check or credit/debit card.

If you prefer to write a check:
Simply mail your check, payable to Impact San Antonio, with your completed Membership Form, to Impact San Antonio Foundation, Inc., 7970 Fredericksburg Road, Suite 101-369, San Antonio, TX 78229.

You may contribute by check to become a Member, an Impact Plus Member, or a Friend. No additional processing fees are required when contributing by check. The full membership amount of $1,000 may be split into two payments of $500 each or four payments of $250 each.

If you prefer to use a credit/debit card:
You may contribute at any level by paying with your credit/debit card online through our secure payment processor Authorize.Net, and completing the Membership Form as described in Step Two below. Choose the Donate button below that reflects your level of support.

Member with Voting Rights: Our bylaws require that the entire $1,000 contribution must go toward funding grants, so we must collect the credit card administrative processing fee as follows: $1,030 – One payment ($1,000 + $30 credit/debit card fee) $515 – Two payments ($500 + $15 credit/debit card fee) $260 – Four payments ($250 + $10 credit/debit card fee)

*Impact Plus* Member with Voting Rights:** Contribute the $1,000 Membership amount, a $30 processing fee, plus a minimum of $100 extra to cover administrative costs. An additional processing fee is not required on the amount of the contribution that exceeds $1,000 because the extra amount is not designated to fund grants.

Friend of Impact – Non-voting Contributor: Contribute any amount less than $1,000 and complete the Membership Form. This donation will be used to help defray administrative expenses and incurs no added processing fee.

FAQ about Membership

Is my donation to Impact San Antonio tax deductible?
Yes. Impact San Antonio is a non-profit organization exempt from federal taxes under U.S. Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Contributions are tax deductible. Appropriate tax letters are provided to contributors.

I cannot give $1,000, but I can give something; what role is there for me?
You can play an important role for Impact San Antonio. You will be a “Friend” and your donation will be used to help cover administrative and fundraising costs so that all member donations go to the grant recipient.

Can I make an in-kind donation of services or products to cover my $1,000 donation?
No. Impact San Antonio welcomes donations of services and products, however, such donations cannot be used to cover the $1,000 membership contribution. In-kind donations qualify the donor as a “Friend” of ISA.

What are my obligations if I join?
The only requirement is to donate $1,000. You have the option to serve on one of the Grant Application Review Committees that evaluate grant applicants; serve on the Social Media Committee, the Membership Committee, or other ISA committees; attend, hold, host or underwrite a membership event; and attend the annual Grant Night event where members vote for the grant recipient.

How long is my membership valid?
Each $1,000 donation provides membership for the current grant year. Each year the Board will establish the deadline for the payment of the $1,000.

Do I have to live in San Antonio to join?
No. Members can live anywhere.

I have a male friend who is interested in Impact San Antonio. Can he participate?
Men can participate directly as a Friend of Impact San Antonio, or they can encourage the women in their lives to participate as members.

I want to give more than $1,000. Do I get more than one vote?
No. Every member has only one vote even if they contribute more than $1,000. Any amount given over $1,000 goes first to offset administrative costs. If more money is received than is needed to cover administrative costs, the Board of Directors has the discretionary power to add that money to the grant funds.

Can I pay my $1,000 over time?
Yes. You may pay one $1,000 payment, or two $500 payments, or four $250 payments. Your voting rights are effective when the entire $1,000 is received. You may participate on Grant Application Review Committees with only a partial payment, but it must be received before May 31. If you are unable to pay the entire $1,000 after your initial payment, you will be considered a Friend of Impact San Antonio, and that installment will go toward administrative costs.

My company matches funds for charitable donations. Can I give $500 and have my company match it to make my total $1,000 donation?
Yes. However, membership becomes effective and voting rights accrue when the entire $1,000 is received by ISA. Additionally, membership will accrue only to the individual. Companies will not receive any voting or other membership rights.

How does Impact San Antonio decide who will receive the grants?
Information on the finalists will be delivered to each member for review, and a Grant Award Night will be held at which the finalists will give a short presentation. At that meeting, members will vote for the finalist of their choice.

What happens if I serve as a board member of an organization applying for the Impact San Antonio grant? Many Impact San Antonio members serve as board members of San Antonio non-profit organizations. Those organizations are free to apply for an Impact San Antonio grant. If you wanted to serve on an Impact grant review committee, you would simply volunteer in a different grant area of focus.

What if I cannot attend the meeting at which the grant recipient is selected? Can I still get information on the finalists and cast my vote? Yes, although we strongly encourage attendance at the meeting, absentee voting is accommodated. Prior to the meeting, every member receives a packet containing information on each finalist. If the member cannot attend, the packet includes a ballot and instructions on how to cast a vote before the meeting.
